Stretch marks are scars that are left behind when skin is overstretched. The dermis just underneath the surface of the skin tears as the overstretching occurs. Stretch marks start as reddened areas that will be sensitive and softer than surrounding skin. They then heal but will look like silvery lines in the areas that the dermis was torn.
Options - Getting rid of stretch marks can be expensive especially if one opts for laser surgery. But one can find a homemade recipe for stretch marks as well and save a lot of time and money by not going to a specialist.
Fresh Marks
The Trouble with Stretch Marks - When stretch marks occur, you can identify them because they are reddish or sometimes purplish lines just underneath your skin. These areas also become quite sensitive and soft and can either itch or burn if the skin around that area is dry. Now, at this point, stretch marks tend to be quite fresh or just newly formed.
At this stage, you do not have to see a doctor or dermatologist just yet. In the comfort of your own home, you can get rid of some of the stretch marks by yourself. When taking a bath or a shower, use a loofah or a body brush and gently rub around the area where new stretch marks have formed. You can loosen a lot of the dead cells that are collecting there and dead skin cells can virtually be wiped away. This is a good way to naturally keep your skin color in those areas and not leave any marks at all.
Water Therapy
If there is any remedy that can correct any condition, it’s prevention. Stretch marks occur usually because the skin is not hydrated or healthy enough to support itself throughout the body. By keeping skin healthy, you keep it strong and this is where diet is very important. It’s not always about the food you eat; it’s about how much water you drink each day.
A healthy drinking habit will keep your skin healthy and looking fresh all the time. 8 to 10 glasses a day is the recommended dosage of water that you should take and this will ensure that any new stretch marks will disappear and will prevent your skin from tearing when it stretches quickly from sudden weight gain or pregnancy in women. This is by far the simplest homemade recipe for stretch marks.
Mixed Remedy
Topical Applications - There are creams and lotions that can help to repair the damaged skin that stretch marks indicate. However, some people have also mixed other ingredients with some stretch mark creams to get even better results. It’s all about trial and error. One such remedy involves stretch mark cream, cocoa butter, wheat germ oil, sesame seed oil, apricot kernel oil, vitamin E oil, beeswax, and vanilla extract.
All in the correct portions, this mix can be heated, cooled, and then massaged directly onto stretch mark affected areas. It is said that this helps do wonders to the skin.
