How often have you embarked on your new diet program only to quit after being on it for a few days or weeks just because you couldn’t resist temptation for your favorite treats? You make that mistake and feel that you haven’t only failed your diet, but failed yourself as well.
Dieting doesn’t mean you are imprisoned from some of those favorite foods. Allow yourself to indulge once in a while, but only in small amounts. It doesn’t mean you are weak; it just means you want a piece of cake; it’s no big deal.
Small setbacks in your diet are to be expected. There’s a difference between a setback and giving into your temptations in moderation. Unfortunately, quite a few people have let that failure become a reflection of who they are. You can bounce back from this way of thinking when your diet fails you.
It’s important to know what is your weakest aspect concerning your diet; is it fast food, desserts, fried foods; know what pushes your buttons and then try to stay away from them. Out of sight, out of mind, so they say.
When you start a diet, it’s important to let your friends and family know, so they can support you and not tempt you with things you know you shouldn’t have. It is your opportunity to be an example to your friends and family that you can succeed at meeting your weight loss goal.
A support network is important when you start a diet, so make sure your friends will be there for you to keep you from staying off path. They should help you and not tempt you with foods they know you shouldn’t be eating. Maybe have them over for lunch or dinner and fix a healthy meal and maybe you’ll get them to diet with you.
It’s important to get motivated and have inspiration. Read other people’s stories or buy a dress in the size you want to be wearing. Leave that dress hanging where you will see it every day and a motivator to keep you on track.
Before you begin your diet, set your goal for how much weight you want to lose. Write it down and hang it up everywhere you will see it throughout the say. Even speak it out loud; make yourself believe it and it will come true.
Make sure you reward yourself for being a better eater and working toward your fitness goals. It’s important to celebrate the small successes and stop focusing on insignificant setbacks.
