If you want to reduce belly fat in your abdominal area, you will need to take a look at your weight loss differently. This is because you cannot lose weight just in one area of the body, there is no such thing as spot reducing.

The sad thing is, most of the time your trouble spots are the last to go when you start losing weight.

So, as you start to lose weight, be prepared to have weight coming off areas of your body you didn’t expect. For example, every time I start losing weight I see it come off my face, neck, hands and calves before anywhere else.

You need to stay realistic about this fact and don’t be too hard on yourself. Your belly fat will come off as long as you stick with your healthy diet and exercise plan.

One of the most important factors in weight loss is building muscle. The more muscle you have the easier it will be to burn fat. Before long you will be able to reduce belly fat to a nice six pack.

Muscle actually burns calories as you rest. Unlike fat which does not require anything to maintain.

If you were starving your body would not feed off fat, instead it would eat your muscles first. This is why cutting too many calories can actually back fire on you.

So as you build more and more lean muscle mass you will burn more and more calories.

Another point to thing about is how active you are. The more active you are throughout the day the more you can eat without gaining weight. The same rule applies with muscle mass.

Sometime people have been known to say that a pound of muscle is heavier than a pound of fat. A pound equals out a pound, but the pound of muscle is a lot more productive and more condense.

Two women right next to each other who weigh the same amount, but have different fat ratios will look considerably different. The one with more fat will be larger than the one with more muscle.

So don’t just worry about the scale, consider your fat percentage. This will help you get a better understanding of how in shape you actually are. The numbers on the scale can be misleading.

As you work to reduce belly fat, think about all the components that come into play.
