Although there are many great places in America where fishing is popular, none compares to fishing found in Colorado. Of all states, Colorado is known near and far for its incredible fly fishing, making it the number one state of choice. People who want to spend time fishing will find that Colorado offers the biggest, best, and greatest variety of any state.

One of the best places for Colorado fly fishing is a place called the Frying Pan River located not far from the beautify city of Aspen. In addition to being gorgeous, gaining access to the river is a breeze. Many people come from near and far to fish for cutthroat, rainbow, and brown trout. In fact, hatches are operated all year long, which means for fishing enthusiasts, fly fishing can be done any time.

Colorado offers so many wonderful places to fish within the Aspen area, another called the Roaring Fork. Unlike other rivers, this one is unique in that the river is large and powerful yet it offers gentle, smaller flowing areas. Known for being full of wild trout and within easy access via the Rio Grande Trail, this is indeed one of the finest locations.

At the Roaring Fork, people can also fish all year long like they can at the Frying Pan River location. This river has some of the finest rainbow trout around although wild brook is also an occasional treat.

The North Platte River was once used by pioneers to traverse portions of the West. Indians hunted buffalo along its shores, and its fish population has made it a legend for Colorado fly fishing. It is located in Northwestern Colorado and has been rated a gold medal river by experts. You will find many trout in the waters of the Platte and be able to enjoy some beautiful scenery at the same time!

In the Vail area, you can fish the Colorado River which is located in the Rocky Mountain National Park. This is a river that is mostly wide and deep with a gently moving current. Cottonwood trees line the shore providing many hiding spaces for the brown trout that are abundant in this water.

The Arkansas River is located in the southwestern portion of the state and provides some great trout fishing for anglers. Mid-winter is a great time to fish the Arkansas for trout as is the spring time. Around Mother’s Day every year, many fishermen descend on the Arkansas for the annual caddis hatch which is huge. Brown trout feed on caddis and they come “out of the woodwork” for this hatch.

The entire state of Colorado has so many exciting places, where people can fish with those mentioned being just a few of the favorites. In fact, fishing in the United States is rated among the most coveted, complete with a beautiful countryside. Fishing in Colorado is fun and there are some great lodges and other accommodations. The bottom line is that Colorado fly fishing offers something very special, a beautiful place, gorgeous scenery, and amazing fish.
