The Pomeranian has a mind of its own and it is not always open to the idea of housebreaking. Some owners will try for months and either give up and use papers or resort to Pomeranian litter box training. Always remember that the Pomeranian can be a stubborn student so you will want to exercise patience when housebreaking. It can take months to get it right so be sure you have tried all standard methods before trying Pomeranian litter box training.
Before you resort to Pomeranian litter box training make sure all other standard methods have been exhausted. The toy dog breeds like to hide and use places like underneath couches and in to smaller areas that you may not look for. If they prefer these parts of your house then housebreaking becomes more difficult. So just be sure you have checked everywhere and used every standard method before resorting to Pomeranian litter box training.
If you are completely convinced that Pomeranian litter box training is what you need to do then get a litter box and then place it in the place where the dog has been soiling the most. Fill the litter box with shredded newspaper or some other organic fill. Do not use regular litter because they may eat it and get sick. Be prepared to clean the litter box regularly and still take the dog outside from time to time to continue the housebreaking training.
A regular feeding schedule helps to housebreak a dog, as you know when you are supposed to take it to the litter box because it has just eaten. You can monitor its eating schedule or just take it to the litter box every forty-five minutes.
If there are accidents then clean them up and do not punish the dog. The dog will only respond to positive reinforcement so praise and reward it when it uses the litter box and avoid punishment at all times.
As your dog shows signs of getting used to Pomeranian litter box training then you can slowly start to move the box towards the door you want it to use to go outside. Once you get the litter box to the door start taking the dog outside and eventually, hopefully, you can get rid of the litter box so that the dog knows that the door is now its way to the bathroom. Be patient as any housebreaking with a Pomeranian takes time.
The idea of Pomeranian litter box training to many owners does not seem temporary and it shouldn’t. Your Pomeranian is very smart and if it decides that this sort of activity is preferable to going to the bathroom outside then you will probably wind up with a dog that is a full time litter box dog.
Pomeranians are very smart and prefer to do things their own way. If you start Pomeranian litter box training with your dog it may wind up staying with that and never learning to go outside at all. The fear of having a dog that does not go outside to go to the bathroom is why many owners avoid Pomeranian litter box training at all costs.
