Raw Dog Food - The Story

It is not true that raw dog food just comes from the bag or can. But it is something different than canned food. These bagged foods are processed foods that undergo various processes in the factories. The animals in the slaughterhouse are killed for meat and this is then subjected to various treatments. This treated meat is then mixed with several other ingredients and then canned for supply.

The raw dog food obviously refers to the food in the raw form without any treatments. The meat and the bones are given to the dog directly as food. This type of feeding is popularly called as BARF (Bones and raw food) diet. As the food is not at all treated by machines, the supporters proclaim the BARF diet as a natural diet.

Should I provide nourishment for my dog with natural diet?

The answer to this longing query is no if you nurture a pet dog. The most cared pet dog also has nutrition needs that cannot be met with just raw dog food. Raw dog food is better than feeding your dog with nothing but is definitely worse than special tinned dog foods. The raw dog food feeds the dog with meat and bones and treats it as a carnivore. The actual fact is dogs are omnivores very similar to human beings. Amazingly dogs can survive on vegan diet that the cats cannot do.

Preparing consumable raw dog food consumes time and is expensive than the canned foods. This doesn’t mean that you have to butch an animal for meat but you should provide the meat directly from the butcher. Untrained dogs that have poor teeth cannot consume this meat in the raw hard form. You have to puree or mince the fresh meat and feed your dog.

The problem with raw dog food is that they are actually human quality foods. The raw meat will contain many bacteria and parasites that will create problems with dogs, as they cannot digest the human grade food. Many dogs suffer from serious illness like salmonella because of the raw dog food. The bones that are unprocessed suddenly shatters when bitten, which will affect your dog. The raw food that is not even cooked contains harmful contaminations.

It is a sin to predict nature

Were the ancient dogs fed with canned foods? Definitely no. But now, we are responsible for the change in the dog’s lifestyle. Nowadays, dogs are becoming much dependent on man for its survival. You cannot expect a Pekingese to survive in the forest. We patted pet dogs and hence it lies in our hands to feed them with whatever they want for their healthy living.
