Blackpool is a popular seaside resort found on the North West coast of England, which is immensely popular with visitors traveling from the close by towns which include Liverpool, Manchester, Warrington and more. The town is also fantastically popular with the Scottish who appear in large numbers in a similar way to the hoards of factory workers of the past on their company holiday. Sometimes it appears that the seaside town is awash with hotel accommodation and entertainments and even though there is a large amount of bed & breakfasts in Blackpool it is better to book reservations early to avoid upset. Accommodation varies from cheaper lodgings to five star class. Many are situated on the sea front alternatively, if you would rather book something less lively you will find a few further inland.
Folk first started to visit Blackpool in the 18th century who had traveled to indulge in the new craze of sea bathing. With the arrival of the railways, from 1846, Blackpool experienced more folk arriving to”take the cure” as sea bathing was called then. Today folk can travel to Blackpool by road, aeroplane or rail arriving there much faster than the early Victorians who would travel for up to two days from as nearby as Manchester.
About Blackpool Pleasure Beach
The primary attraction in the resort, in Lancashire in the north west of England, which manages to receive roughly seven million customers every twelve months, is Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Blackpool’s Pleasure Beach is an enormously sized funfair with fear inducing big rides, for example Ice Blast, Valhalla, Grand National, the Big One, Zipper Dipper and Wild Mouse, as well as many more sideshows, thrill rides, food booths, children’s rides, sidestalls and games. The most recently added thrill ride is Infusion, the first ever to have a suspended looping type of coaster entirely over water.
A handy tip to remember: If you are visiting Blackpool as a family group it is possible to save pennies by buying an unlimited ride wristband especially if you will going on every ride as the individual cost of each ride soon amounts to serious cash.
How To Get To Blackpool And Bed And Breakfast
Blackpool is, as said earlier, very easy to get to nowadays as you can get there by railway, road or air. If traveling by rail you will, likely, arrive at the main railway station in Blackpool, which is called Blackpool North on Talbot Road. Not too far away, still on Talbot Road you will find the main coach station, Blackpool National Express Coach Station. The other rail station, Blackpool South, is at Waterloo Road, South Promenade. Blackpool Airport is situated about two miles south of the town centre and was previously called, Blackpool Squires Gate Airport, one of the United Kingdom’s oldest airports.
Bed and breakfast accommodation in Blackpool is generally priced fairly low. Accommodation is frequently cheaper out of season and not such a bargain on Saturdays and Sundays. Hotels in Blackpool are most expensive during the Blackpool Illuminations, which is really Blackpool’s peak season.
A handy tip: Some guest houses and hotels can be pretty noisy especially those near to Central and North Pier. If you rather stay in a quieter location take a look past the North Pier.
