One of the best ways to practice surefire dating techniques is to work on meeting women online. There are a lot of advantages to online dating, like having time to really think out your responses and not having to deal with the sting of rejections that are so difficult in real-life. But what is the key to getting noticed online? The secret lies in your online profile.

How you write your profile has everything to do with the sort of responses you will get. If you aren’t getting any responses, you’ll know you did it wrong. While writing a profile that gets response is an art form, it is also a lot simpler than you would imagine. There are just a few guidelines you need to follow.

First off, there are a few deal-breakers you need to avoid at all costs when writing a profile. Whatever you do, do not announce what a nice guy you are. This is one of the most common mistakes newcomers to online dating sites make. Avoid writing a resume-style description of your life, your job, or yourself. And please, please, whatever you do, resist the urge to post that picture of you doing a keg-stand with the guys, no matter how funny you think it is.

If these are examples of how to do it wrong, then how do you get it right? Let’s use some of David Deangelo’s priceless advice. For starters, use “cocky & funny” to get noticed. If you start out sounding like a suck-up, women will think you are needy and desperate. When in doubt, be funny.

David Deangelo suggests using the “cocky-funny” technique to generate interest in real life, and online. Use it in your profile and watch how well it works. Instead of writing, “looking for a nice girl to spoil” try to spin it, “looking for girl who wants to spoil me rotten.” Be sure to make it clear that you are joking, otherwise you might end up sounding like a jerk.

Maybe the most important piece of advice is this next bit. Leave out as many details as possible. I know, it sounds crazy, but believe me, it works. This is called “being mysterious”, and it means making her do some guess work. This gets her imagination going, and makes her want to know more.

And back to that profile photo: make it stand out. Know your best feature, and play it up. If you have a great smile, use it. If your eyes are your best feature, be sure to use a picture that shows them off. Don’t use a picture of yourself with other girls, or in a setting that makes you look lame or boring (with your cat or in your office). Bonus points for showing off exotic places or exciting hobbies in the background.

Just remember these three tips: use humor to draw women in, keep it brief, and seal the deal with a picture that sells the image you want to get across. You can’t go wrong if you follow this advice.
