Ovulation calendars are used to identify an approximate ovulation date, as well as the days of the month you’re most liable to get pregnant. They are used by women as a way to enhance their fertility naturally.

Using an ovulation calendar is pretty simple. Start by entering the date when you last menstruated and how many days are in your menstrual cycle. The calendar will then give you a rough date of when you should be fertile, based on the figures you entered.

Do ovulation calendars work? To some extent they do, but looking at two variables (the date of your last period, and your average cycle length) is pretty simplistic. And we all know that life isn’t simple!

Okay, what can you do to boost your likelihood of conceiving. One strategy to use is checking your cervix on a daily basis. You see, at the start of your cycle, and during the luteal phase, it’s positioned quite low in the vagina. It only rises during ovulation.

You can also check the mucus the cervix produces. Most days of the month, its pretty dry, thick and white. However, during your most fertile time of the month, it changes to a clear, viscous fluid, that stretches several centimeters between your fingers and thumb.

Start charting your basal body temp on a daily basis. This needs to be done while you’re still in bed, as there’s very little chance of variations. Although it won’t tell you when you’re fertile, it will indicate that you have just released an egg, as there’ll be a sharp rise in your temperature. Noting down when this happens will help you in predicting when you’re next going to ovulate.

Put all of these into a chart, so you have a good idea of what happens every day of your cycle. Charting your cycle on a daily basis, over a period of months, can help you become very familiar with how it works, and puts you more in touch with your body, and can even help you know when you’re ovulating.

What if you have erratic periods, or have PCOS, or don’t menstruate at all? These techniques will only come into their own, once you’ve sorted out the underlying problem behind your irregular cycle.

If you’ve been trying to conceive but have not had any success, then maybe it’s time to look at other options to get pregnant naturally. Perhaps a body cleanse for fertility, some organic food choices, lifestyle changes and a herb supplement such as Fertil Plus For Women to help regulate your cycle and help you ovulate - at the same time each month.
