Ask any traveler about Austin, Texas and he will probably reply “That city is music to anyone’s ears.” That description holds true since Austin is popularly known as ” The Live Music Capital of the World.” As you can probably infer, people flock the city for very obvious reasons. A lot of music performers grace the city nightly so that they can contribute to the city’s title. Exciting city huh? If you think the excitement ends there, better check out the city’s man-made extension, the Austin - Bergstrom International Airport (or simply, the Austin Airport).

The Austin Airport is a pretty unique airport since it gives travelers a keyhole peek at the best features of the city. The airport’s main terminal, the Barbara Jordan Terminal, is built like a venue for concerts. The terminal has a performance area where dozens of local bands perform. You will also find a good number of restaurants surrounding the area. A lot of the restaurants serve traditional meals served in the city, to give airport visitors a good idea on how the local dishes taste like. International dishes are also served, which makes the terminal’s eating area versatile.

What’s more interesting is that they also hold regular live band performances in the Austin airport. In case you don’t know, the city is called “The Live Music Capital of the World.” You may interpret the live bands in the airport as a way for the city to live up to its title.

Just recently, airport officials decided to turn the Barbara Jordan Terminal into a no-frill zone. This move is in congruence with the accommodation of another airline, Viva Aerobus. Austin Airline officials believe that the entrance of this low-cost airline can spike the amount of travelers served even further. Only time will tell if that is a wise move but for now, the travelers will have to settle for a standard airline terminal.
