Las Vegas, also known as “The Entertainment Capital of the World” is one of the biggest destinations in the whole of North America. With one of the liveliest night attractions and the best casinos and hotels, Sin City is only growing bigger over time. And to accommodate the huge rush of tourists, it’s only logical that Las Vegas has some of the best airports as well. And contained below are some of the most prestigious:
North las Vegas airport: This airport which some people may be familiar with is operated by the Clark County Department of Aviation and is owned by Clark County. It’s located about three miles northwest of North Las Vegas, the business district of Las Vegas.
The original name of this airport airport is Sky Haven Airport. The airport has three runways available, with the airport itself covering a total land area of 920 acres in total.
North Las Vegas Airport is one of the busiest airports in the whole state. It mostly takes on scenic tours and other such miscellaneous flights. This is so because commercial flights are the main concern of McCarran International Airport, which is another Las Vegas airport.
McCarran International Airport - The McCarran International Airport is Las Vegas’ principal commercial airport, owned and operated by the same entities that owns and operates North Las Vegas Airport. It is located in the town of Paradise, situated somewhere within five miles south of the central business district of Las Vegas.
McCarran International Airport has four runways and spans a total of 2,800 acres.
Searchlight Airport - Until 2006, this public airport has been operated by Clark County Department of Aviation. However this airport currently has offered no other services since then. Searchlight Airport is located approximately 70 miles southwest of Las Vegas.
There have been several plans for the expansion of McCarran Airport with the most recent major one being the legislation signed for an additional land purchase. Construction is expected to finish in 2017, with the capacity to accommodate much more tourists and their cargo.
