Everyone wants to reside in an area that’s considered the best place to live in. Now, the best place to live in is not just some place suggested by friends or relatives. The best place to live in had been suggested by Money Magazine in 2006, and in this case, Austin is one of them. MSN has also labeled Austin as the “Greenest City in America.”

Expect the weather to be moderately cold when winter comes and hot when it’s summer time. Generally, Austin’s climate is humid tropical, which means that summers are also humid and not just hot. Residents and tourists will experience a temperature of about 90 degrees F or 32 degrees Celsius when it’s summer time in Austin.

Austin’s summer starts from June to September. A daily weather that reaches up to 100 degrees F or 38 degrees C is nothing new in Austin. For the record, the hottest day in Austin was at 112 degrees F or 44 degrees Celsius which happened on September 5, 2000. On the average, there are around 198 days in Austin where residents and visitors experience a temperature over 27 degrees C or 80 degrees F and another with over 32 degrees C or 90 degrees F.

Sometimes, Austin has a dry and mild weather even when it is already winter. On the average, Austin experiences a temperature reaching below 45 degrees F or 7 degrees C for 88 days. There will be another 24 days when Austin won’t experience a temperature drop below the freezing point at all.

To date, the lowest temperature in Austin was recorded on January 31, 1949 at -2 degrees F or -19 degrees C. Austin rarely experiences a snowfall, though once a year or so, the city may be hit with an ice storm. When this happens, the roads may be frozen and the city may be shut down for a day.

Austin is home to extreme weather conditions so it helps to prepare proper clothings and supplies always.
