Real time tracking is one of the most advanced tracking systems today. When the transmitter receives the data from the satellite the real time location of the vehicle is determined. That information is then sent to you, allowing you to track your vehicle any time, anywhere.

The GPS satellite system is the most commonly used type of protocol system for real time vehicle tracking. It uses 24 medium Earth orbit satellites that continuously scan different areas of the planet’s surface, and transmits the data collected to the receiver in the form of microwave signals.

Many people believe that a GPS transmitter should have a clear line of sight with the sky to get an acceptable connection and maintain communication with the satellites. However, it is now possible to establish the necessary connection despite a hazy line of sight. This is what makes the GPS satellite system very attractive as a navigating tool, especially for vehicles. GPS can still track your vehicle even if you get trapped in a jungle, or pass through a tunnel.

Compared to other navigational systems that use lower frequencies, the satellite system of the GPS is maintained by the government. This way, the technology is always updated and the costs are not passed on to the taxpayer.

GPS vehicle tracking system providers often provide their clients with different options regarding the quality of vehicle tracking services they wish to subscribe to. For example, one client may wish to avail of a service wherein the server refreshes its data every after 10 seconds. On the other hand, another client may wish to subscribe to a real time vehicle tracking service, where the server refreshes in real time with the vehicle being tracked. Of course the latter service comes at a greater fee, but the quality as well as precision of service is far superior over the former option.
